Community Resiliency and Activism in Cambridgeport (1)

Sat, August 19 Guided Tour: Community Resiliency and Activism in Cambridgeport Option 2

Sat August 19, 2023
10 am

On August 15 and 19, History Cambridge intern Miranda Santiago led two sessions of a tour she created on Community Resiliency and Activism in Cambridgeport. Born and raised in Cambridge, Miranda is now a student at New York University, but her experiences growing up in Cambridge – in particular the time she has spent in the Cambridgeport neighborhood – have given her a unique perspective on the ways in which this area has changed, as well as the aspects of the community that remain strong. Weaving historical sources with her own experiences, as well as first-hand interviews with local residents, Miranda created a tour that blends public history and personal memoir, a combination that was met with an enthusiastic reception from the large groups who attended each of the sessions. An online, self-guided version of the tour will be posted soon on our website for those who were not able to make the guided tour (or who wish to learn more about the many topics discussed).

This tour is made possible by the Cambridge Heritage Trust.
