We’re looking for a part-time Communications Manager

About the Role

We’re looking for a part-time professional to contribute to and execute our communications strategy, with a goal of increasing engagement with our current friends and reaching new ones. This position can be remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Craft a strong communications strategy for 2022 that aligns with the overall goals and mission of the organization
  • Be an expert project manager
  • Create content including blog posts, videos, social media posts, graphics, and more
  • Write and copy edit blog posts and other written content
  • Post weekly on social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Maintain our brand voice across platforms to engage followers appropriately
  • Analyze performance of social media channels and make adjustments accordingly
  • Liaise with CambridgeDay.com and coordinate content to be published in our weekly Did You Know? column on local history
  • Collaborate with fellow staff, board members, interns, and volunteers to give equal voice to programs, collections, and fundraising projects
  • Help to manage website redesign
  • Participate in weekly virtual staff meetings and monthly Communications Committee meetings to coordinate with others and feel a part of the team

Who You Are

  • You have two or more years of experience working in non-profit social media and/or communications
  • You are fluent with social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram 
  • You are experienced with WordPress, Buffer (or other social media post-scheduling app), and Canva (or other graphic design software)
  • You have an understanding and appreciation of the history of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the field of public history
  • You have experience working in a team setting as well as independently; ability to meet deadlines; detail-oriented; strong organizational and communication skills are required
  • You have a proven ability to keep a project on track, including setting up tasks and timelines, organizing materials and ensuring deadlines are met and inquiries are replied to 

Hours + Compensation

  • Position is part-time at 15 hours a week; Compensation is $23/hour
  • Hours are flexible
  • Open to remote work
