History

Jasper White took on a big challenge when he opened the summer shack. It is at the location of long time Cambridge institution Aku-Aku. Aku-Aku was a grand tropical relic of the post-war era, it became one of the last remaining Polynesian restaurants of its kind, and existed here for many years before it was bought by Boston's acclaimed chef, Jasper White. White transformed the space into a cathedral for New England cooking, replete with raw bar, giant tanks for lobsters and rows of picnic tables for diners. The Summer Shack has since expanded to other locations.
