History Cambridge is pleased to announce it has received a $40,000 Staffing Recovery grant from Mass Humanities. This vital funding is dedicated to strengthening the organization’s programming capacity by supporting a key staff position.
The grant funds will be used to increase the hours of Beth Folsom, History Cambridge’s Program Manager, from 20 to 32 hours per week. This expansion of hours will directly support the organization’s mission by allowing for enhanced program development and delivery.
“We are incredibly grateful to Mass Humanities for this crucial support,” said Marieke Van Damme, Executive Director. “This Staffing Recovery grant allows us to solidify our team and better serve the Cambridge community through our programs and initiatives.”
Mass Humanities has been a significant supporter of History Cambridge’s initiatives, including a Black History grant that funded “Untold Stories of Black Cambridge” programs in 2022. They also provided a SHARP grant to enhance History Cambridge’s website, improving public access to Cambridge history. Additionally, Mass Humanities contributed funding to the “Sweet Souls” oral history project. These efforts are part of Mass Humanities’ “Expand Massachusetts Stories” initiative, which aims to collect and share diverse narratives from the commonwealth, particularly those previously unrecognized or excluded.
