Brian Wright 2: You started hearing about these different events, these real shows that you’d want to go to, and very definitely underground bands, but bands that you’d heard of. Underground stuff was really underground. You had to seek it out, you had to look for it. People think that Nirvana was the start of something, but in certain ways it was kind of the end of something. It made things almost legit. It lost its club vibe. If you knew the right people, listened to the right radio, read the right magazines. It seemed very rewarding--Boston being great, Cambridge especially, for college radio. In my opinion, Boston’s got the best radio, even better that New York. It was all part of that underground scene when that actually meant something.
